Hey everybody,

I'm attending school at Boston University and am taking part in a directed study next semester. Along with studying the art/architecture of ancient Egyptian life I'll be studying and doing my own research into the diets and lifestyles of the people. My research will conclude in a 9 day trip to Egypt in the spring. I don't know, but it seems with books such as Neanderthin and the Paleo Diet people are interested in the diets of ancient cultures, so I thought this would interest you all. I will post my findings when I'm done and I can't wait to go to Egypt!!!

Thanks for reading.

Aaron that sounds really interesting!

In the Eades' books "Protein Power" or "Protein Power Life Something' they talk about the archaelogical record of ancient Egyptians showing they had our diseases too, the "diseases of civilization." This is part of the argument that when people started basing food on grains, we went awry.

I think that argument also says that Egyptian art - all those lean coolios we see - were to real Egyptian people, as our TV and magazines are to the people you see at the mall.

Happy edu hunting!

cool

Is a modern Egyptian's diet similar to that of an "ancient" Egyptian? It seems like they are/were both heavily reliant on grains. I read in some book that a reason invaders could wupp Egypt's butt was due to their "soft" lifestyle. Is there any validity to that statment?

that seriously sounds like a lot of fun...um...have fun man :D
