Last week while snorkeling and swimming in the Bahamas I had an interesting experience. I applied the princinple of attention while snorkeling as it has become a daily practice for me since watching the "Fisticuffs" tape Part III: FLOW STATE PERFORMANCE SPIRAL™ and I had a truly adventorous snorkeling experience.
For whatever reason on the day I was snorkeling and swimming there were Jelly fish all over the area I was in. Jellyfish sting! A number of people actually did get stung. Almost everyone was INTENT on seeing the "beautiful fish" Maybe that narrow vision caused them to be unaware of the Jellyfish?
My own personal experience from being ATTENTIVE produced a very positive adventure for me in the ocean. I snorkeled with full awareness of where the Jellyfish were. It was a really unique experience at times I felt like I was in slow motion like I had all the time in the world to get out of the way of the Jelly fish, sharp rocks, etc. A few time I breathed in and collapsed my chest to avoid a jellyfish or two. (be breathed) Other times I adjusted my swimming stroke from freestyle to sidestroke in a split second . I was very mobile (Warrior Wellness). My attention to what was going on and not being fixated on seeing "beautiful fish" allowed me to do, see, and experience more that day.
Many of us are or were involved in martial arts and I think it is fair to say that most of became involved with the MA to survive. Survival comes in many forms from avoiding a punch, dodging a driver who is not paying attention to you the cyclist, or avoiding jellyfish. My martial arts are more then a punch and a kick. My martial arts training is surving and thriving in daily live. Ok, that is my most recent rmax experience as a result and benefit of my daily rmax training. Take care and Rmax away your day :)
