View Full Version : re Be Breathed (my apologies if this is posted incorrectly)

In attempting the very elementary Be Breathed exercises, I'm having a little trouble maintaining any certainty that my breathing is truly "passive." It's as though my diaphragm and chest muscles are so used to "helping" that they just don't want to stay out of the loop.

Another attempt at clarifying the question:
I have this sense that if some unexpected "inability" were to suddenly - but gently - STOP the bodily motions that SHOULD be causing the breath... I couldn't guarantee that the breath would actually stop. (As if the unwanted helpers would just keep right on helping.)

So... in order to have the best shot at not ingraining any incorrect tensions, should a person simply resolve to stay at the most elementary level until the "passive" (or perhaps a better word would be "responsive") nature of the breath is more clearly felt? Is this the kind of thing in which a "moment of clarity" can be expected when the natural use of the body to create the breath kicks in - will there be a noticable 'light bulb?"

Or, is the progression through the exercises, and the comparison of performance against increased challenge the only true test?

Hope this is clear enough to at least look like a sensible question...

Blessings.
