My brother and I have recently adopted a vegetarian(no dairy) for health and weightloss. We eat three meals per day with breakfast heaviest and supper lightest. To cover all nutritional bases we rotate grains, nuts and veggies to get the whole spectrum of nutrients.

In general, the diet has been working. I have so far lost about 10lbs in around 2.5 weeks(which maybe mostly water). Some things that I have found useful is to 'drink my food' meaning to chew food thorougly so as to be able to almost drink my food. This has been helpful for my digestion and helps me to be satiated easier.

I received my current diet regimen from the book Battle of the Bulge put out by meetministry.org. I would appreciate any comments and advice. Thanks.

Looks like a basic organic/veggie program - as long as you get enough protien and your reaching your goals can't really fault the diet. I have seen a very low long term compliance to that type of diet - hope it works out for you. Might want to visit Mikemahler.com. Mike is a very strong, built vegan KB/CB guy.

I would second Bill's thoughts and also add to watch out for hi-glycemic carbs. No flour products, rice cakes or fruit juice for example, but instead whole-food sugar and starch sources. Otherwise you might end up with too-high insulin all day which would prevent the fat loss. The basic idea would be to balance the protein, good fats, starch and veggies to keep insulin in check.

I would add that I had not seen your post in the open section indicating you have 100lbs to lose. This makes Connie's warning all the more important - most veggies, guys like Mike being the exceptions, have low muscle and more fat even when their skinny.

This is also why it is great to actually follow the template for posting when you ask a Q here. Did that sound too Moderatory - sorry.
