When my health improves, I will begin training for vertical leap gains for basketball.

Would the first video of Leg-Fencing be a good place to start for a stable foundation and spring legs? I was wondering, what other physical characteristics and movements are involved in leaping? For example, hip and spinal mobility? The poor leapers tend to become rigid in the air, the great leapers are fluid and even seem to execute spinal waves in the air.

Are there any biomechanical exercises from any of the videos which anyone has found to help with vertical leap specifically? How about favorite clubbell or kettlebell exercises?

Are plyometric shoes (e.g. http://www.strength-shoes.com) helpful or are they hazardous to your movement and health?

I'm 21, with no injuries, and really want Vince Carter-like elevation and body control in a few years time, but not by causing great damage to myself.

Any advice would be appreciated. Living in Australia. There must be other athletes who are interested in the same topic, but I couldn't find much when I searched the forum archives...

Quad hops appear perfect for you. And, I am always bias about the leg Fencings products, but you have made a smart choice.

The Rams and shin lifts, consolidated as the Accordian would be an excellent nucleus also.

The power of your leap will come with the freedom you gain from "un-binding" your flow.(see BodyFlow)

All of the movements in BodyFlow will help you immensely. You will free all of the joints in your lower body and don't forget the all important articulation of the spine. Take every opportunity you can to shine light between your vertebre.

Scott often speaks of "elastic energy" that ability to to load, store and unload.

Clubbell training is another avenue of freedom you should stroll down.

I would forget about Vince and focus on being the best you you can be(although I'm still a Tarheel).

From your toes to your spine...free yourself.

Thanks, I'll continue to work with Zdorovye and work my way into the Bodyflow and Leg Fencing exercises. I'm no great Vince Carter fan, but I'm always impressed by the fluidity and finesse of his movements when dunking.
