Hi there! I had HVS for almost a year now and the last time I had an attack is while working-out in the gym! It was all the same mistakes I've done to my body, stressing it especially my breathing! I have no medical issue whatsoever, I resorted to Yoga and stopped working-out for almost 2 months now, just doing walking exercises once a week for 20-30mins.. And recognizing and managing all the stress that can lead to and worsen my disorder. And I'm doing well with it! I'm planning to get back in weight-training again but quite anxious on having an attack again when I hyperventilate during a work-out (which I know is just normal). I'm trying to stay focus and control on the job at hand. Any advice will be so much appreciated, thanks! :)

Be Breathed and Intu-Flow both contain exercises to condition your breathing.

Just out of curiousity, how did this start in the first place? suddenly with trauma, or, ?

How are you breathing during lifting?

Yeah, I'll try to get a copy of Be Breathed. I guess It all started with stress without me noticing it. Like everything is just on a fast pace, like I'll drive for 7hrs.(moderate to fast speed) a day then I'll rush myself to get in the gym to work-out. Burning too much! It's like more of mismanagement of time and I just strained my breathing too much. Added with a on and off colds(allergies), my nasal passages is blocked w/c makes it harder for me to breathe during those stressful situations. As with breathing during lifting, I inhale slowly and deeply through my nose during the negative and exhale through my nose, sometimes on my mouth when the load is heavy during the lift or the hardest part of the exercise. I try not to hold my breath as much as possible during each repitition. :)
