Hello Coach Sonnon,

I had some quesitons on the 1st Be Breathed excercise where you demonstrate the butterfly.

If I understanding correctly, you start off flat on your back, inhale, tilt your pelvis, bring your abs towards your spine, exhale. sit up, & do the contol pause. You then inhale as you round your shoulders, & exhale as you bring your spine to the floor. Is that correct?

When you bring you knees up (before you drop them towards your chest), do you inhale, then exhale as your knees come up? Do you take a control pause, another inhale before your knees drop down, & then exhale as your knees drop towards your chest?

When you bring your legs back to the floor, is that one long exhale that starts when your knees drop towards your chest, or is there another series of breaths all together?

I'm confused on how to coordinate the breathing once you bring your knees up, & I hope my questions are somewhat clear.

Thanks in advance,

Hugo

Hugo,

There are three guidelines to Performance Breathing.
1. Passive Exhalation on Compression - Passive Inhalation on Expansion.
2. Active Exhalation on Effort.
3. Control Pause on fine motor action; Lengthen the CP.

Two overrides one at early stages of learning. Keep your throat open, relax and allow the breath to happen.
