NOW AVAILABLE - The RMAX Training Group Manual!!!!!!

It gives me great pleasure to finally announce the release of The RMAX Training Group Manual.

"The RMAX Training Group Manual is really the FlowFighting® vision statement in the form of an applied manifesto." - Coach Sonnon

The RMAX Training Group Manual is the essential "how-to" counterpart of Coach Sonnon's groundbreaking Three-Dimensional Performance Pyramid. Whether you seek to apply RMAX to your base of traditional martial arts or you plan to explore RMAX martial resources exclusively, this manual will explain in simple concrete terms where and how to start, and where you can take it. Among the topics covered are:
    • How to found, organize and run an informal RMAX training group
    • Formulating realistic goals
    • Laying the foundation - establishing your training Doctrine, Strategy and Tactics
    • How to craft training Cycles and Classes
    • Asymmetrical vs. symmetrical drills - how, when and why to program them
    • How to structure drills for maximum gain
    • The PDT as diagnostic
    • Creating Static, Fluid and Dynamic drills - how, when and why
    • Applying the Softwork-Hardwork Continuum - how, when and why
    • Integrating your Personal Practice
The RMAX Training Group Manual gives you the tools to cut through dead ends and trial and error to put your training on the fast track to mastery.

This project is truly the culmination of 10 years of work. The book contains all of the lessons that my training partner Rick Merritt and I learned while drifting about on our own (the product of all our trial and error), and it explicitly dissects RMAX technologies and explains with examples how you can apply them to your training right now!

In short, it's all the things I know now that I wish I'd known then. (well... all the training-related things, anyway ).

I've also included several helpful appendices:
    • a guide to making the most of resources (video, print, electronic...) when training without a teacher
    • a quick reference guide to current RMAX resources
    • an essential reading "get started" guide to RMAX Magazine
I can't wait to hear your feedback on this one! I think you'll love it!

Coach, thank you for giving me the opportunity.

I forgot to add that those who will be attending the inaugural FlowFighting® Athete seminar will see these concepts in action, and will realize that this manual is the Rosetta Stone for programming one's training.

I am considering starting a training group after I move to North Carolina next month. However I am hesitant because given my family responsibilities, work commitments, and my own personal practice (see my blog) I don't know if I can devote enough time for such a group.

How much of a time commitment, per week, is required to organize and run a successful training group?

    Jeffrey,

As little or as much time as you want to put into it. My group meets once a week for two hours. We all do our own thing in between times - personal practice, and projects for me - and consider this our lab session.

How you structure your group is totally up to you. There are loads of options. I go into this in the first section of the manual - what it takes (as far as personal qualities), how to find other like-minded explorers, how to structure the group in terms of when's and where's... After that comes the meat - how to craft your goals, and how to apply RMAX methodologies to meet those goals.

Very cool, Ryan! I'm sure it is work well done. Yet another book to add to the list that seems to be ever growing. :-)

    Chasing (an adventure novel)
~ The life of a Chaser seemed to fit Ottum like well-made armor. She hunted and killed evil without questioning the path her life had taken - until the day evil started hunting her. In that dark moment, Ottum's past and present collided to shatter what she once believed to be unquestionable truth.

Buy Chasing at Amazon (Print and Kindle edition available).
