RMAX Challenge Hump-Day Report: Annie Sayo

Health, mental & emotional stability are reasons why I chose to participate in this competition. Each exercise, the pull ups, one legged squats, side clean, jump box & the floor exercise, started off assisted on different levels. Today, I finally felt that the exercises, the number of some of the exercises could be enhanced by assisting myself less than I started 2 weeks ago with sophistication. Each time we start another cycle, I notice the movement & structure of technique improves. I find I have better control physically and mentally over the form per exercise. Meaning, I have more control over being more attentive to form during the exercise vs. being too caught up in the exersion. Now, I can be simulataneously attentive to form AND exersion.

The first week & a half, it was more of a challenge physically. When the second week came, I experienced an emotional and mental breakdown ESPECIALLY yesterday, day 13, I temporarily decided on the early part of the day that I could not continue w/ this compeition due to my 7-day work schedule this week, due to my feeling emotionally imbalanced. I felt like crap! I felt like I had no control of my schedule, and I felt that I was too busy, so I had to choose something in my life that I had to let loose, that I could afford to sacrifice, which was the Challenge. Luckily, my partner talked me out of it & offered to escort me to the park, cheer me on throughout my moderate day. I felt a bit better, but I still felt worse than ever since the competition started.

My obstacles I have faced is everything I stated above, including my water intake. It sounds simple, but drinking h20 is really like a chore. I have NEVER drank this much h20 per day in my entire life! Because of this competition, I learned that I tested positive for nitrite in my urine, which is caused by the lack of water intake. Since this competition, I greatly improved my consciousness of water need in my diet. I definitely understand the importance of water & can compare how it impacts my workouts & my breathing. I still get lazy in drinking water, but I just know that if I want this competition to be a success, I need to continue my drinking water during and after this competition.

An adequate amount of water is absolutely a goal that I am going to continue during and after this competition. Learning how to not give up on my health b/c of a busy schedule is no excuse! Making sure I get 40grams of protein per meal is really a challenge also b/c I'm finding it is expensinve to eat this much protein! I don't have that much money for this much food. So, what I had to do is readjust my finances to participate in the nutrition we are to follow as much as I can. That is something I have always done in the past. This Challenge demonstrated, I CAN incorporate working out even through my busiest schedules I just have to WANT to.

I want to clarify what winning this Challenge means to me. Each day I workout, I blog, I exchange ideas & support w/ my teammates, following the nutrition, are all part of the Challenge, however, it is not as difficult as getting out there to the park & doing the actual workouts. I feel I am my competitor & my teammates or the other challengers are supporting me in winning the challenge with & against myself to become a healthier (mental & physical) person. So, winning to me is important in terms of completing this entire Challenge to my utmost ability & coming out stronger mentally, emotionally & physically than when I started on Day 1 of this Challenge! That in itself, is a win!

What he said. Wait. That was me. Anyway... huge, huge...

This was so honest and so direct that I nearly wept. (In a manly, severe bow-hunting accident kind of way, of course. Ahem.)

The courage that you seem to almost accidentally show here is more than inspirational. It sounds like a piece of what makes any living thing truly alive; like what is most necessary to make a person whole.

I would not hestitate to trust you with my back, were I to walk into trouble. I have a feeling that whatever was right, whatever was necessary, would come from your bones. (And I think it would surprise even you.)

    Annie,

I could stop this competition right here and crown you champion. Your continuing courage in pressing on (and seeking out help when you need it) humbles me. You are an amazing person.
