I would go with Judo and Wrestling.
Just personal preference. I love stand up grapling and have never had the patience for pasive nature of BJJ (at least the BJJ I have been exposed too). Yes your submision repertoir will probably be smaller. But nobody wins a grappling competition because they know a million subs or throws. They win cause they do two or three so dam well that nobody can stop them. Any how BJJ is great, just not my cup of tea.

It depends. What are you looking to do?Originally Posted by markc

So - what are you after from grappling?
I have also have done all three. All three share alot of common ground. Wrestling and Judo are sports, ie have rules, which can be limiting. Bjj also has rules but is more self defense based. Current Judo rules limit the amount of time that you are on the ground. Bjj is said to have poor stand up. Wrestling fails to have submissions per say. Judo has very good throws.
With that being said, I would base my decision on the instructor and the class. I would rather study a weaker style under a better teacher, than vice versa. See if they will let you take a class or two. Get a feel for the instructor style and the class.
Check in the Musing section for this topic. I think Coach Sonnon had written a couple of articles on this.
Also, which ever style you decide on. Make sure to keep the ROSS system as your base. Keep up with Warrior Wellness, Be Breathed, and CST. Learn as much as possible about IOUF, Leg Fencing, Artho, Fist, etc. Its amazing how fast you can learn a style with Ross as a core.
Good Luck

I think Judo and BJJ would cover your bases the most! That said, it's easier (at least in my case) to find a place to learn judo than it is to find a wrestling club. Most wrestlers here are members of a college team!
I like Anthony's sugestion. Just find the best coach (or coache's) that are available too you and take advantage of the situation. Style is second too good teaching.
