Started Informal Training Group in Minneapolis

Yesterday was our first group workout, and it was excellent! The weather was 80 degrees and sunny - a perfect day for a group workout in the park.

5 people (including me) got together from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and went through the following material together:

    Warrior Wellness Beginner

Be Breathed - Basic Standing, Sitting, and Lying - 20 minutes altogether

    Clubbell® Ballistics
    Swings, CTO, F/B Pendulums

    Clubbell® Grinds
Armpit Cast, Parry Cast, Reverse Parry Cast, Shield Cast, Swipes, Bullwhips

It was cool to work out with other people for a change. 8) There were 5 of us altogether, and one person came to observe. Occasionally someone in the park would come over and watch for a while, too. There was an excellent vibe going on!

During Warrior Wellness Beginner, it was cool to see other people struggling where I used to be, while enjoying the feeling of being where I'm at now. MAJOR difference! Only two of us have done Warrior Wellness before, and the other 3 were pretty pumped about how it felt.

Be Breathed practice went well too. We are all working on incorporating structural breathing naturally, and we all need work on it. Two guys hadn't tried it before and were having a bit of trouble at first. Once they grasped the concept, they did fine.

We skipped Bodyflow work due to time - we all wanted to work with the CBs!! One guy had outgrown his homemade 13#, so I loaned him my 15# for a test-drive. Then I grabbed my 20#!

Basic ballistics with the 20# felt really good, if not quite easy. I really focused on technique and kept it clean and smooth. Choking up helped, of course. Switching to the 8# for grinds was almost laughable. It felt like a toy, by comparison. I am looking forward to getting back on my Double-D program after this mixed-bag session.

The other guys have been making do with dumbbells, metal rods, and home-made CBs. I loaned 3 of them real CBs for the day, and let the other guy use one of my best home-made substitutes. We rocked our way through movements we liked, starting with the simplest, and worked up to combinations. We all did different numbers of reps and sets, according to how we felt. Only one person joined me for a few Swipes and Bullwhips, as the others are still working on the basic movements.

Overall it was a great start, and we worked a lot of material. It wasn't a very strenuous session for anyone, but that was fine. We were just happy to get together, go over the basics, and work with real CBs instead of poor substitutes.

We'll get together again next month, hopefully before CST Epsilon. :!:

You'd be missing the point, then, amigo. Empower your people to sharing by leading the way. When you're certified, you can charge for classes and private sessions and make good money helping people, but you always need 'feeder' programs where you outreach to newbies.

Just kidding, Scott! I couldn't resist baiting you with that.

If I had the cash, I'd buy a couple full sets of pairs and just let everyone use them. It's sweet to have some local Knuckledraggers-in-Vitro.
