My name is Lew Cottell, I post on several forums as either ratlee or shoe. I am a longtime (@25 years) of the Filipino Martial Arts, at rather a low level of frequency. I have also done some grappling, mostly Combat Wrestling and BJJ, as well as dabbling in kickboxing, jkd, and other stuff (my instructors tend to leave the town, the latest with no forwarding address). I have also played football at Simon Fraser University, where I currently work. I have done several kinds of weighttraining, usually a variation of HIT, however, I am no longer enamored of training to failure. I am currently training Russian Kettlebell style, albeit with dumbbells, and using BODYFLOW, both the videos and the book. My first exposure to Coach Sonnnons work was the Grapplers Toolbox, which was a real revelation in sophisticated movement. At that time, I was doing Combat Conditioning, but my gosh, the difference....it has helped my martial arts which is what I practice now, not a paticular style, although it is informed by style, but simply movement, efficient, purposeful movement. I plan at some point to incorporate Clubbell® movements in my training.
