I've never posted on this forum before, but I've been a long time lurker. A little about my past. During the 80s I was fanatical about endurance sports: marathons, triathlons, 100+ mile bicycle training rides. I aspired to build up to ultramarathon running races and ironman length triathlons. Overtraining and a trashed iliotibial band changed that. The 90s were basically my decade of inactivity. My weight jumped from 185lbs to 240lbs at just over six feet.
After an illness left me disgusted with my health and the medical profession I studied one-on-one with a chi kung master. At the time, his tai chi videos were marketed by Dragon Door where I was introduced to Pavel's way of thinking. Thanks to PTP my deadlift increased from 225lbs to 405lbs in about 2 years, my bench increased from 225 to 315 in the same period, and in the last 6 months my squatting has improved from 225 to 365.
I also discovered kettlebells and made my way up from the 1 pood to the 2.5 pood, which I am snatching (10 times each arm) and strict pressing (3 times each arm).
The Dragon Door Forum lead me to RMAX.tv where I discovered clubbells and Body Flow. I have two 15lb clubbells, which I use for cardiovascular routines and more complex moves (drumming, iron cross). I purchased two 25lb clubbells (should of gone with the 20s). I able to use one for shield/armpit casts and snatches/torch press, but I'm not able to control two.
My fitness goals include:
(1) increase my comfort level and proficiency with body flow kinetic chains
(2) rely more on kettlebell and clubbells for increased strength and conditioning gains
(3) increase core strength (possibly buy an indo board)
(4) significantly increase aerobic efficiency (start practicing Be Breathed exercises and possibly buy Scrapper's Mod. 1 program)
(5) lose weight ( I recently shed 12 pounds, I'd like to lose another 15)
(6) learn a martial art (ROSS or Systema, but I live in the Chicago area and am not aware of any instructors here).
Thank you Scott and everyone at this forum for the incredible source training information and motivation.
Regards,
Kevin Dolan
