Yesterday on 07/25/2004, we had another CST group workout in Minneapolis, on the shore of Lake Calhoun. It was a perfectly beautiful day, and there were droves of people about.

Though only 2 people from last month's session were able to attend this one, we had 5 new people participating and 2 who came to watch. Since we were right off the main walk/run path around the lake, we had dozens of people stop to watch from a distance, and a bunch came up to ask questions after we finished up.

Many of the questions that came from onlookers were from older folks that were interested in recuperative benefits. A dentist that works on patients with TMJ was particularly interested in the possibility of releasing tension from the neck and shoulder girdle as a way of alleviating symptoms. Another guy was wondering about the application of CST to Triathlon preparation. It was cool to learn how people from different walks of life could see their own possibilities in the movements we practiced with and without weight. The fact that so many applications I hadn't really considered came up showed me how limited my own perceptions have been.

We spent the bulk of our time on Warrior Wellness, incorporating Performance Breathing along the way. Since most of the new people had RKC backgrounds and had competed in GS the day before, we made sure everyone was nice and loose before grabbing the clubbells. We had a lot of clubs available, and everyone got to try various sizes, with one or both hands.

If we'd had more time, it would have been great to get into ABCs or even Bodyflow, but the clock ran out on the fun before we felt like we were truly done. I have to give big props to all the RKC people for working so hard on the Performance Breathing and the Warrior Wellness. These were greater challenges for them than the CBs were.

Extra props also to my friend Paul, who helped explain the differences between Performance Breathing and Power Breathing, based on his experiences with both RKC and CST. Paul has come a long way since he started working with CST just a couple of months ago.

I plan to organize another CST session in August, and am looking forward to it already! It's tremendously exciting to have a group of people with similar interests get together and really dig in.

If you plan to be in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area during August, let me know and I will send you the details as soon as I can!
