Hello To All,
I just received a call from my doctor and I was informed that my cholesterol is over the top. I won't bore anyone with the details of the good and bad cholesterol numbers, but lets just say I've got enough "bad" cholesterol for two people and not enough of the "good" stuff for one.
My family does have a history of this and I have been given 3 months to attempt to bring it to an acceptable level. X-rays and exams have shown nothing remarkable with my heart. If I cannot bring the situation under control I may be forced to take medication to reduce the levels.
I want to avoid this at all costs. I am 37, 5' 10" and 200lbs. My Grandfather died from cholesterol and a few other things. My father had his first heart attack at age 38 and required triple bypass surgery to save his life. His second was when he was 42 and he has had his femoral arteries replaced because they were blocking up with plaque.
Does anyone have any advice on diet that may help me with this problem? Exercise is no problem, I love to do it, but I am somewhat at a loss when it comes to diet. My doctor gave me a pamphlet covering a low cholesterol regiment, but I'm not sure its the very best I could do.
Any, and I mean Any advice will be deeply appreciated!!
Thanks,
--ski
