International Clubbell Sport

International Clubbell® Sport was created by Coach Scott Sonnon in 2003. Drawing upon his intimate knowledge of the Russian national sport of Sambo, coupled with the Russian strength endurance competition, Girevoy Sport, or kettlebell lifting, Scott established a "high bar" for Olympic Clubbell® Sport requirements. The first National Championships were held in 2005 represented by 5 regional qualifiers: USA Northeast, South, Midwest, Southwest, West and Northwest.

This former Olympic Game is quickly becoming one of the most exciting strength endurance sports in the world, as it was 100 years ago in the USA, Great Britain, India, Iran, Russia, Burma and other countries worldwide.

In International Clubbell® Sport there are two events: the Swipe (pictured right) and the Mill (pictured left). Click here for a video presentation:

  • High Speed Connections: Swipe and the Mill (High Quality 2.8MB each in AVI format)
  • Slow Speed Connection: Swipe and the Mill (Low Quality 220KB each in WMV format)

Athletes have ten minutes to complete as many repetitions as possible with proper form and without Clubbells touching the platform. Athletes are allotted no less than 30 minutes and no more than 60 minute recovery period in between events.

The numbers in the table refer to the total of two lifts, Swipes and Mills with Official Clubbells. Swipes score 1 point per repetition and Mills score 1 points per repetition of both sides (1 point for both a right and a left Mill completed). The number of Mills completed to the weaker side is registered. For example, if an athlete has completed 17 Mills to one side and 18 to the right side, he receives 17 points, plus the points from his Swipes, for example 25 repetitions = 25 points. In this example the athlete would score 17 + 25 = 42 points total.
